Fresh evidence has emerged of how Peter Okoye of the defunct P-Square group invited the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate his twin brother, Paul Okoye.
In some of his social media posts, Peter had denied involving his twin brother in the ongoing alleged fraud case with his elder brother and erstwhile manager, Jude Okoye, but a copy of his statement to the EFCC (attached) seen by this medium proved otherwise.
In the petition dated 29 January, 2024, Peter actually called on the anti-graft agency to investigate the account of his twin brother Paul from “2004 till date.” He also requested the investigation of Jude’s wife, Ifeoma from “2004 till date,” even though his elder brother Jude never met her till late 2013. Besides, P-Square relocated to Lagos in 2005, after which they released the Get Squared album that shot them to the limelight.
Part of the petition reads: “…I will appreciate if the commission can investigate the account of Northside Music Ltd from 2015 till date, the account of Northside Entertainment Ltd from 2007 till date, the account of Jude Chidozie Okoye from 2004 till date, the account of Paul Nonso Okoye from 2004 till date, and the account of Umeokeke Ifeoma Okoye from 2004 till date.”
Investigations revealed that upon invitation by the EFCC, Paul was actually detained before he was released on bail. This contradicts claims by Peter that he didn’t involve his twin brother in the fraud allegations.
Meanwhile, at the resumption of cross-examination on Friday, 12 December 2025 at the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja the defence counsel Clement Onwuenwunor (SAN) showed Peter Okoye bank statements showing multiple withdrawals by him and his wife, Lola (Omotayo) Okoye from P-Square’s account between 3 January and 15 December, 2023, and Peter confirmed it.
Peter, who was visibly overwhelmed by the questioning, couldn’t control his anger and told the defence counsel that “I’m not being prosecuted. I’m a witness. I want to know why you’re telling this court that this account is an exhibit. It belongs to me and my twin brother. You’re the one lying.”
The Judge, Justice Rahman Osodi had to quickly intervene and cautioned Peter, then he apologized.
The defence counsel also probed that “when you said your brother’s wife owned 800,000 shares, you knew it was a lie, Peter said he didn’t lie, he told the court that he made the discovery and submitted it to the EFCC “but when the defence counsel asked if he can provide any evidence to back his claims, he repeated that he only made the discovery and gave it to the EFCC.
