A female police officer, Inspector Alonge Bridget attached to Sabo Police Station, Lagos State, has petitioned the Inspector General of Police IGP Kayode Egbetoku over what she described as assault, threat to life, maltreatment and professional misconduct by a senior colleague, DSP Josephine Okeme, the Divisional Traffic Officer (DTO) of Sabo Police Station, Lagos State.
Alonge alleged that on 12 February, 2025 when she was posted to Okeme’s office as a traffic Police Officer, she assaulted her by punching her in the chest, even while she was in uniform, a development that caused her severe pains for many days. For two weeks, she could not go to work and she tendered all the medical papers for her treatment which she attached to the petition.
On 17 November, 2025 at about 5:20pm, Alonge walked into her office in the Divisional Crime Branch (DCB), as she was removed from the traffic section by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) CSP Comfort Alabi, but she was confronted by DSP Okeme, who greeted her with slaps to her face before she ran away from the scene.
“As I was running for my dear life, so that she will not damage my mobile phone, I hit my hand against an object which made my hand swell up,. She was still running after me and started shouting witch, witch, witch and people were just looking at us.
“Sometimes, when I close from duty and I am going home, she would follow me to the bus–stop and she will be shouting and telling bus conductors not to allow me to enter their bus that I am a barren witch woman.
“It got to a stage that I had to report the bully and harassment to the then Area ‘C’ Commander, ACP Ayoola Oladunni who summoned her and she could not tell the Area Commander my offence, so the Area Commander had to retain me at the Area Command until the DPO Comfort Alabi, a Chief Superintendent of Police CSP started to disturb the Area Commander to release me so that I can come back to Sabo Division because according to her, I am hard working and that she does not have any problem with me,” the victim explained.
However, since she came back to the division, the bully, harassment and insult continued unabated, leaving her with no option than to petition the IGP through Lagos State annex, Obalende.
On 19 December, 2025, Inspector Alonge Bridget called our reporter to inform him that while she was in her office, DSP Josephine Okeme walked in as usual and she started hurling insults at her, calling her a barren witch. Before she knew what was happening, DSP Okeme went to the DPO to report her that she saw her and did not greet her and the DPO ordered that she should be defaulted.
When our reporter called the DPO on the phone, she responded that the O/C Provost was handling the matter and when probed further that if that is the case why did DSP Okeme continued to mistreat the Inspector, she hung the call.
Meanwhile, the wireless message from the O/C Provost to the DPO stated that she should settle the two female officers and she did nothing before the W/Inspector decided to petition the IGP for help.
W/Inspector Alonge Bridget is appealing to the Inspector General of Police to save her from the hand of W/DSP Josephine Okeme who has boasted that nothing will happen to her even if she crippled her as she does not have anyone to fight for her.
