In a historic stride toward strengthening continental unity and diplomatic cooperation, the League of African Ambassadors (LAA) is set to hold its Official Launch Ceremony on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at the prestigious Mulungushi International Conference Centre (K.K. Wing) in Lusaka, Zambia.
The landmark event, commencing at 10:00 AM CAT (11:00 AM WAT), will convene a distinguished assembly of ambassadors, policymakers, development partners, and eminent leaders from across Africa and the diaspora.
According to the Deputy Spokesperson of LAA, Ambassador John J. Usanga, the launch symbolizes “a new dawn for Africa’s diplomatic collaboration, unity of purpose, and visionary engagement with global partners.”
“The League of African Ambassadors represents a united platform where African envoys and thought leaders can shape the future of our continent through dialogue, partnership, and shared vision,” Amb. Usanga said.
As preparations intensify, Ambassador Lt. General Tukur Yusufu Buratai (Rtd.), former Nigerian Chief of Army Staff and a Board of Trustees Member of LAA (West Africa), has lauded Zambia’s leadership for its role in hosting the event and advancing Africa’s shared agenda.
Reflecting on Africa’s liberation struggles and the legacies of continental icons, Gen. Buratai commended the President of the Republic of Zambia, His Excellency Hakainde Hichilema, for his progressive leadership and unwavering commitment to African unity and sustainable development.
“Africa stands at a defining moment in history — one that calls for renewed solidarity and visionary diplomacy,” Buratai remarked.
“The hosting of this event by Zambia is a testament to the country’s historical role in championing liberation, peace, and cooperation across the continent.”
He further highlighted that the League of African Ambassadors will serve as a powerful platform for harmonizing Africa’s diplomatic voice on global issues, deepening regional cooperation, and promoting the continent’s shared prosperity.
The event will feature keynote addresses, strategic roundtables, and cultural showcases reflecting Africa’s diversity and diplomatic excellence. Delegations from various African countries and international organizations are expected to attend, making it one of the most significant Pan-African gatherings of the year.
As Africa looks toward a new chapter of unity and influence, the League of African Ambassadors launch in Lusaka stands as a defining milestone — reaffirming the continent’s commitment to peace, progress, and purposeful diplomacy.
