LG Staff Murder: Court Remands Suspects in Kirikiri Prison

The Directorate of Public Prosecution has filed criminal charges against the six suspects involved in the murder of Agbowa Local Government staff, Idowu Keshinro before a Lagos State High Court.

The State Counsel, Mrs Abiola Adeoye gave this information at the resumption of trial at the State Magistrate Court in Ogba.

She pleaded with the Magistrate to further remand the suspects pending when the case would be assigned for trial.

Magistrate Lateef Owolabi granted the prayer and adjourned till Nov 26.

The six suspects are a well known land merchant in Lagos, Alhaji Abubakar Suleiman Mayaki, CEO of MYK Land and Properties Ltd, Mukaila Salawu known as Actor, Tiyamiyu Ahmed, Wasiu Suleimon, Ibrahim Ekemode and Akande Omogbemi.

The suspects are ordered to be further remanded in Kirikiri prison pending their arraignment at the State High Court.

According to the charges filed by the Police, the suspects on the 1st April 2024 at about 0900hrs at Otta Ikosi Agbowa in the Lagos Magisterial district did conspire amongst themselves to commit robbery and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 299 of the Criminal Laws Cap. Ch.Vol.3 Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

In the second charge, they were alleged to have unlawfully killed Idowu Keshinro (m) and thereby committed an offence Contrary to Section 233 of the Criminal Laws Cap. Ch.Vol.3 Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

It would be recalled that Hakeem Idowu Keshinro, who was also described as a hunter and staffer of Ikosi-Ejirin local government, had in a chilling video where he could be seen soaking in his pool of blood and his body riddled with bullets, recounted how he went on hunting activities in the Ota area of Ikorodu, Lagos State when he was suddenly ambushed, attacked, shot severally and machete on the orders of one Mukaila Salau aka Actor, a notorious land grabber who was physically present at the scene.
