Encomiums have been pouring for Edo Queens, Nigeria’s representatives at this year’s CAF Women’s Champions league. The team lost 1-3 in the semi-finals of the championship to TP Mazembe of Congo and would now face FC Masar in the third place match.

Speaking on the valiant efforts and eventual ouster of the team, National Chairman of Nigeria and Africa’s foremost football fans group, Nigeria Football Supporters Club, Ambassador(Rev). Samuel Ikpea, remarked that the girls should be commended for doing Nigeria proud, so far, in the championship.

“It is painful that our girls lost out in the semi-finals, but we must commend their brave efforts,” Ikpea said.

“I want to advise them to put the loss behind them and go into the third place match, with a winner’s mindset. All Nigerians are solidly behind them,” he added.

Ikpea went on to hail the government of Edo State and particularly, the FA and the State Sports Commission. He advised them not to relent in their continued efforts to further place Edo State and Nigeria, on the bright sides of international sports.
