NIGERIAN ARMY DISTRIBUTES PALLIATIVES TO ONIGBONGBO COMMUNITY

In line with activities of the 2020 Nigerian Army Day Celebration, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai ably represented by the General Officer Commanding 81Division Nigerian Army, Maj. Gen. JO Irefin has distributed palliatives to its host community at Onigbongbo, Ikeja-Lagos State.

In his opening remarks, the Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Tukur Yusuf Buratai appreciates the host community for the peaceful and cordial relationship that has existed over the years with the Nigerian Army and urged them to make it more robust.

COAS said the distribution of palliative came at a time they needed it most as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic which has crippled lots of business activities in the community.

Regent Chief Tajudeen Ajao Irawo in his welcome address, thanked the COAS for the kind gesture and for choosing their community for the event. He stated that the effort of the Nigerian Army in the fight against terrorism, kidnapping, banditry will be victorious and for those who paid the ultimate price, may their death not be in vain.

He added that the community in their own way will continue to support the Nigerian Army to succeed in their dealings. Amongst those in attendance was the Commander 9 Brigade Brig Gen, MA Etsu-Ndagi.

Mrs Obiangeli Ana, a beneficiary representing the Igbo Community Women in Onigbongbo said “I really appreciate what our Military has done, in fact they have performed beyond my expectation.”

Another beneficiary, Victoria Anabel said “I give kudos to 9 Brigade of the Nigerian Army for this wonderful giveaway.”
