Ogun Begins Rice Harvest

he Ogun State government has flagged-off the harvesting of 2020 wet season rice planted by some farmers’ groups which was supported by the state government.

The Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr.
Odedina explained that the state which had about 1.3 million acres of land was embarking on a mass production of rice in the rice growing locations across 10 local government areas of the state.

He noted that investors were already moving into rice business in the state.

The commissioner stressed that the state had adopted a technology-driven strategy in rice production.

He added, “In Ogun State, rice business matters and it is a way of encouraging the youth to embrace agriculture.

“People have invested in rice in Ogun State, they invested in mill and invested in warehouse,’’ he said.
