POLICE ARRESTS SUSPECTED INDIAN HEMP MERCHANT WITH 100 BAGS OF WEED

Men of the Nigeria Police Force have arrested a suspected Indian Hemp merchant, seizing at least 100 bags of weed from him.

On 7 August, 2020 the Officer-in-charge Zonal Monitoring Unit, SP. Uba Adams received an information that some criminal elements are smuggling arms and ammunition into the country through Imeko border.

A team of Operatives from the Zonal Monitoring Unit swung into action and moved to Ibara Orile via Okedi Village along Abeokuta-Imeko road where they laid ambush.

Surprisingly, the smugglers changed their route and decided to converge elsewhere based on information from their spies who usually go before them to see if the road is free for them to move.

While they await the truck arranged to convey the smuggled items to their supposed destination in a border village between Ogun and Oyo States, the Operatives arrived and they all took to their heels, leaving behind the smuggled items which was later discovered to be weeds suspected to be Indian hemp and their motorcycles.

One of them, Ishola Sunday was not as lucky as others, as he was arrested with the motorcycles and consignments.

Efforts are in top gear to arrest fleeing suspects as investigation is in progress while suspects will be charged to court upon completion for prosecution.
