Rotary Club donate books, computer set to Ojodu Schools

In a bid to promote reading culture among students and distract them from negative activities, the Rotary Club of Ojodu has donated a shelf filled with recommended books to the library of Ojodu Grammar School, Lagos. The club also donated a set of computer to Ojodu Junior High School.

The donations, made on Friday, 11 March, 2022 by representatives of the Rotary Club Ojodu, are part of the club’s regular projects aimed at giving back to the society.

President of the club, Ikpunuekhai Osi-Evans, while promising that the club will continue to reach out, urged the school to take good care of the books and put them to best use.

He explained that “As Rotary Club of Ojodu, we are no strangers to the schools as the club has done notable projects over the years.

“Yearly, Rotary plans on projects in support of community services, which ranges from health, security, sanitation and more. Education is one very key area of focus and as Rotarians we believe in the esteemed value of Education – Knowledge is power,” Ikpunuekhai Osi-Evans said.

On the computer set donated to Ojodu Junior High School, Osi-Evans noted that the gesture is geared towards computer literacy education, as most examinations are computer based now.

“It’s most important to have a computer, so as to train the kids. This would avail them the opportunity of praticalizing all they have been taught about it.

“Besides, the global trend now is information technology and there’s urgent need to catch them young,” he concluded.

In turns, representatives of the two schools thanked members of Rotary Club Ojodu for a job well done and their great support over the years.
