Jesse Derry has spoken out following a horrific accident on his complete Premier League debut for Chelsea that required hospital treatment.
The 18-year-old thanked medical personnel, teammates, and fans for their encouragement following his withdrawal from the match against Nottingham Forest.
Derry has issued an update following a concerning incident during Chelsea’s 3-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest, which resulted in the kid being hospitalised. The 18-year-old winger was having a terrific full Premier League debut until he collided with Zach Abbott just before halftime.

The event raised concerns within Stamford Bridge, with Derry requiring emergency medical attention before being transported to St Mary’s Hospital. Despite the setback, the youngster reassured supporters on social media by thanking those who assisted him throughout the tragedy.
Derry addressed the situation on Instagram following his hospitalisation and expressed gratitude to those who assisted him.
“A dream come true to start at Stamford Bridge for my Premier League debut,” he wrote. “I’d like to thank all the Chelsea medical staff, everyone at St Mary’s Hospital, my teammates, and all the fans for their great support. I can’t wait to be back playing in front of everyone very soon.”
Before the injury, Derry was one of Chelsea’s top players in a 3-1 loss. Having previously only participated in FA Cup games against Wrexham and Hull City, the winger seemed at ease on the Premier League stage. During the early stages, the teenager played a key role in Chelsea’s aggressive style.
One famous occasion saw him make a great reverse pass for Joao Pedro, which resulted in Enzo Fernandez hitting the woodwork. He also attempted an audacious acrobatic maneuver midway through the first half, demonstrating his confidence.
