EFCC Arrests Kogi Assembly Candidate, Others, Recovers N326million, $140,500 Cash

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Tuesday revealed that it had arrested a Kogi State House of Assembly candidate, Ismaila Yusuf Atumeyi, with wads of cash suspected to be from a bank fraud.
Atumeyi is seeking to represent Ankpa 11 constituency in Kogi on the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party. He was arrested with N326million and $140,500 cash.
EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, in a statement on Tuesday said Atumeyi was arrested on Sunday alongside one Joshua Dominic, an alleged serial fraudster, in a sting operation at Macedonia Street, Queens Estate, Karsana, Gwarinpa, Abuja.
Also arrested was a former bank employee, Abdumalik Salau Femi, who allegedly supplied the inside information that facilitated the attack on the bank by the syndicate. Luxury vehicles were also recovered.
