Adekunle Gold: Nigeria Is Not Practising True Democracy
Singer Adekunle Gold has said Nigeria is not operating as a true democratic nation.
Speaking on a recent episode of the One54 Podcast, the ‘Orente’ crooner explained that he believes his colleague, Davido, urged United States President Donald Trump to monitor the recently held Osun State governorship election because of concerns over Nigeria’s democratic process.
According to Adekunle, the appeal was necessary because the country is not upholding democratic standards.

“I think Davido sent that message to Donald Trump because we are not truly practising democracy in Nigeria. We are not doing what a democratic society should do,” he noted.
The singer added that he is hopeful the current administration of President Bola Tinubu will perform better than the previous one in terms of governance and democratic values.
“I just hope this administration does better than the previous one,” he said.
Meanwhile, Adekunle Gold has in recent months been vocal about national issues, including governance and the welfare of citizens.
