Inside The Room: DJ Damiger Brought Afrobeats To The UN’s At Unstoppable Africa Gala
New York’s Marriott Marquis once again hosted one of the diaspora’s biggest nights as DJ Damiger returned for the third straight year to headline the Unstoppable Africa Gala.
The event, held in the hotel’s Broadway Ballroom, was organized by the Foundation for the Global Compact, an organization advancing the United Nations Global Compact’s mission on corporate sustainability.
For three and a half hours, the DJ and producer transformed a room filled with diplomats, business leaders, and changemakers into a vibrant dance floor, blending Afrobeats, Amapiano, and Afro-Fusion into a set as global as the mission of the evening.

It has become a tradition. Damiger has now closed out three consecutive editions of the gala, with the same assignment each year: to make a ballroom of guests from every corner of the world feel at home, if only for a night.
“Every year this event gets bigger, and every year I get to bring a little more of home into a room like that,” Damiger said.
“Music has always been the thing that makes people forget the room they’re in and just feel something together. That’s what Sunday was about, he added.
Meanwhile, the gala is part of the Foundation’s broader effort to spotlight African innovation and partnership on the world stage, and Damiger’s set has become a signature moment that proves the biggest conversations in the world can still make room for a good song.
