Alleged Cyberbullying: Court Dismisses Sowore’s No Case Submission
Justice Mohammed Garba Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed Omoyele Sowore’s no-case plea in President Bola Tinubu’s alleged cyberbullying case brought against him by the Department of State Service.
The DSS is suing Mr Sowore for allegedly referring to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a “criminal” on his X account.
The court determined that Sowore has a case to answer by explaining some of the points brought by the prosecution, because the prosecution has established a prima facie case.

The court also determined that the activist utilized his social media handle to write a post, as evidenced by the prosecution witness.
In response to the court’s verdict on his no case submission, Sowore, through his attorney, requested permission to address the judge, which the court granted.
Sowore informed Justice Umar that he was not convinced that he would receive justice from a court that had humiliated his lawyer by requiring him to kneel, as well as a court that had exposed him to other types of abuse.
He wanted Justice Umar to recuse himself from the proceedings.
Counsel for Sowore informed the court that they would file an application for his recusal.
The court deferred until May 19th for additional proceedings, despite Mr Marshal’s insistence that the date was not convenient.
