Tobi Obanla, a member of the popular Obanla family in Lagos, has vowed that necessary legal actions will be taken against Babatunde Adewuyi, a gay man who is currently at large.
Tobi said the suspect, Babatunde Adewuyi when apprehended will be charged for rape, homosexuality, kidnapping, breach of public peace and conducts likely to cause social unrest, a police source said.
According to him, on Sunday, 20 August, 2023 at about 11:30am, he left church to urgently pick something at home, and on his arrival, saw a man (Babatunde Adewuyi) sexually harassing his younger brother, Ayo Obanla inside their bedroom. He claimed that the suspect later orchestrated the kidnap of his brother.
“I had left church early that day to pick a document. When I entered, I was greeted with the gory sight of that criminal having an unlawful sexual act with my brother. I descended on him with some punches, but he pushed me and took to his heels. I quickly alerted neighbours who promptly joined me in chasing him, but all to no avail.
“My brother Ayo confessed that the criminal (Babatunde) raped him from the anus, and subsequently arranged for his kidnap. We have reported this incident to the appropriate authorities, and on behalf of the Obanla family, let me assure you all that this criminal will surely face the full wrath of the law. He will soon be fished out to face the consequences of his criminal actions. He cannot run forever,” Tobi affirmed.
The case has already been reported at the Agege Division of the Nigerian Police Force.
A senior police officer who craved anonymity, described Babatunde Adewuyi as a chronic gay man, who has initiated many innocent youths into his unlawful and demonic lifestyle.
“We have got in touch with some persons who are ready to witness against the accused person. From information at our disposal, he has been indulging in the barbaric act for a long time. We will not relent on our oars until he and his cohorts face the law,” the officer assured.
