Giving Alms To Beggars Delays Revolution — Seun Kuti
Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti has claimed that the act of giving alms to street beggars is delaying the revolution needed to bring positive change in Nigeria.
Speaking in an interview with ObjecTV, Kuti argued that because Nigerians regularly give to beggars, the poor are not “hungry” enough to spark a revolution.
“The beggars are the ones who are supposed to be angry in order to cause revolution, but since we give them money from time to time, they are not hungry enough to be angry,” he said.

His comments have triggered mixed reactions on social media and public space, with many arguing that being uncharitable to beggars is not a pathway to revolution.
Meanwhile, Kuti has over the years consistently called for a revolution in Nigeria, insisting that the current crop of politicians are corrupt and that only a radical change can fix the system.
