Having A Son Not Priority, My Daughters Are Better — Dangote

Nigerian billionaire businessman, Aliko Dangote, has said having a male child to preserve his family name and legacy is not a priority for him, despite traditional expectations in Kano society.

The 69-year-old business mogul stated this during an interview with ARISE News today, when asked if he still hopes to have a son.

Responding, Dangote said: “That one, I think is not my priority. Let me say it bluntly. It’s not really my priority because today as we speak, God controls everything.”

He noted that praying for a son does not guarantee that the family name and legacy will be preserved.

“And for me really, sometimes you can pray for God to give you a son, but that son might be the one that will bring down the name of the family. So sometimes, when God doesn’t give you something, don’t push,” he added.

Dangote, who has three daughters, stressed that he does not believe a son would have done better than his daughters.

“I don’t think if a son would have done better than these three daughters that I have,” he said.
