The party guidelines for local government election was published in The Nation Newspaper on Monday 3rd Of May 2021. The state chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) set up an electoral committee. The electoral committee also set up two sub-committees; a screening committee and screening appeal committee. The screening committee commenced their work on the 22nd of May and completed it on 23rd of May 2021 in Ifelodun LCDA. After the screening committee had submitted their results and reports to the state electoral committee, the latter published the names of successful aspirants for the primary election.
Later, the appeal committee started working on various appeal from the unsuccessful aspirants in the state. The appeal committee closed their appeal excercise on 27 May, 2021 in which some of the aspirants were cleared and submitted their results to the state electoral committee which was later pasted at the State Secretariat and it was duely signed by the committee chairman on 28 May, 2021.
But to the greatest surprise of many faithful party loyalists, some aspirants that were disqualified by the appeal committee were given hand note by unknown mechanism of the electoral committee which was not signed by the committee chairman. This is to the detriment of the name and image of our great party if people can decide for their personal interest to jeopardize the interest of the party.
We are appealing to the National leader of our great party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinunbu and His Excellency, the governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu to reverse the aspirants that were not cleared by the appeal committee because there is no amount of effort that can be put in place to legalise illegality.
Case studies: 1 -Amukoko ward in Ifelodun LCDA, Ahmed Maiyefun was not cleared by the appeal committee. 2; Oke Oja ward in Ifelodun LCDA, Yekini Salami O. was not also cleared by the appeal committee, even Ibukun Oyeniyi that was disqualified also brought her banners to election venue and insisted people must vote for her.
Then Ojora ward in Ifelodun LCDA, Ilesanmi Elijah Oluwatosin, Iginla Fuad Adedoyin and Olanrewaju Wasiu Abolaji were not cleared by the appeal committee. Apasa ward in Ifelodun LCDA, Sulyman Kaseem was not cleared by the appeal committee. And all these uncleared aspirants were allowed to participate in the All Progressive Congress primaries in Ifelodun LCDA.
We are appealing to the party leaders in Lagos State and Ifelodun LCDA not to allow the personal interest of a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Kolawole Taiwo to jeopardise the present and future image of our great party if all the uncleared aspirants were the one leading to the destruction and highjacking electoral materials like ballot booklet and ballot boxes including the result sheet that are sensitive materials in the conduct of the excercise.
