UNILAG Alumni Association Inaugurates New Executives

The University of Lagos Alumni association has inaugurated new executives after a keenly contested election that held on Sunday, 13 December, 2020.

The election saw Dr Benjamin Oluwatosin emerge the Executive chairman alongside others that include Olusegun Adeleke, Temitope Adeyemi, Ebun Oluranti, Akanni Saheed, Ogunkoya Oluwasesan Omotayo, Dr Priscillia Etiokpa, Salvador Taoheed Ifedolapo , Onikoyi Adekunle, Ayinde Kayode and Ajasa Olusola.

During his inaugural speech, the executive chairman, Dr Benjamin Oluwatosin expressed gratitude to the management of the University of Lagos led by Prof Toyin Ogundipe and the electoral committee led by Prof Fatai Badru for an unbiased election.

He assure the outgone executives of an administration of continuity, which will ensure that the standard and quality of leadership in the past will not be cut short.

“We want to express our profound appreciation to the Electoral committee led by Prof Fatai Badru. Indeed, they were unbiased umpire and their efforts brought about the most transparent election in the history of the association. The University Management Team led by Prof Toyin Ogundipe provided an enabling environment for the success of the election.

“The outgone executives should be rest assured that we will not lower the bar rather we would give our best to further uplift the association. All our supporters should not for any reason loose faith in all the promises we made to secure their votes. Our campaign promises remain our roadmap in rebuilding the association to the admirations of all and sundry,” Dr Benjamin explained.

Also, he noted that the new executives will positively change the narratives of Leadership in the association, while maintaining that the administration will be thoroughly inclusive.

“We have just begun a journey to positively change the narratives of leadership in the UNILAG Alumni Association, Lagos State Branch. Our administration will be thoroughly inclusive and very accommodating to different shades of opinions geared towards improving the UNILAG brand across the globe,” he added.

Furthermore, he made it known that before the administration completes 100 days in office, the first secretariat of the association in the capital of Lagos state will be delivered.

“We are firstly working towards mobilizing resources to have the first official secretariat of the association in Ikeja, the capital of Lagos State as enshrined in our constitution. We would collectively work together and ensure it is achieved in the first 100 days of our administration.

“It was indeed a long road to freedom and we are humbled and grateful to God for the grace He has given unto us. Our doors shall be open and we will continually uphold the tenets of the constitution,” Dr Benjamin concluded.
