67 Kids Rescued from Illegal Remand

No fewer than 67 persons, including kids have been rescued from an illegal remand home in Daura, Katsina State.
The illegal facility which was being operated by one Mallam Bello Abdullahi Umar (78) of Sabon Garin Daura, Daura LGA of Katsina state, was busted by a team of police officers led by CP Sanusi Buba.
In the course of investigation, 67 persons from the ages of 7 to 40 were found shackled with chains. The victims were also found to have been subjected to various inhuman and degrading treatments.
The victims have been evacuated to hospital for treatment while efforts are ongoing to reunite them with their respective families.
The Police Command enjoins parents to desist from taking their children/wards to illegal, unauthorized or unapproved remand/rehabilitation centers otherwise known as “Makarantar Mallam Mai – Mari”.
“Parents should take their recalcitrant/delinquent wards to only recognize and approved facilities provided or registered by the government,” Buba advised.
