IGP Disu Meets Burna Boy To Rebuild Trust In NPF

Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has met with Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, Damini Ogulu, better known as Burna Boy, to discuss how the creative industry can help rebuild public trust in the Nigeria Police Force.

Burna Boy was hosted by the IGP at the Police House in Lagos yesterday.

The meeting focused on the huge influence of the entertainment industry, especially among young Nigerians, and how it can be leveraged to improve relations between the police and the public.

Speaking during the meeting, Disu said the engagement is part of his administration’s efforts to collaborate with critical stakeholders across various sectors to improve the image of the police and strengthen public confidence in the institution.

According to the IGP, the creative industry wields enormous influence over youths and can play a vital role in shaping conversations, building bridges and promoting better understanding between police officers and the communities they serve.

In his response, Burna Boy, who won a Grammy for his 2021 album ‘Twice As Tall’, expressed support for the programme and promised his willingness to contribute to efforts aimed at improving police-citizen relations, particularly among young people.
