Tinubu Supported Nollywood Since Governorship – Quadri

Veteran Yoruba actor, Yinka Quadri, has commended President Bola Tinubu for his consistent support for Nollywood practitioners, describing him as a leader who has always attended to the needs of the film industry.

In an interview with African A List, Quadri recalled how Tinubu intervened in health and bereavement crises involving actors during his tenure as Lagos State governor.

According to him, President Tinubu offset all medical bills of the late comic actor, Baba Suwe, both in Lagos and abroad when he was ill.

He also disclosed that when actress Moji Olaiya died abroad, the association approached Tinubu for $15,000 to bring her body back to Nigeria, but he gave them $25,000 instead, adding that he has always responded to their requests.

The thespian further credited the current administration with infrastructural and welfare interventions, including rehabilitation of major roads in the South-West, prompt payment of pensions and introduction of student loan scheme.

Quadri argued that if previous administrations had embarked on similar projects, the country would have recorded more progress, noting that President Tinubu deserves another term to do more.

The veteran actor also spoke on his personal life, revealing that his wife, Sadiat, was tolerant of his relationships with some actresses.

He said his wife was aware of the affairs but remained cordial with the actresses, even when some of them tried to gossip about him to her.

He therefore added that his wife often welcomed and took care of some of the actresses in their home after late-night movie shoots, despite knowing about his involvement with them.
