From Malta To Nikkah: L.A.X Holds Second Wedding

Afrobeats star L.A.X has held a Nikkah ceremony for his wife Ella, one month after their civil wedding in Malta.
The singer, born Damilola Afolabi, who rose to fame in 2013 with Caro featuring Wizkid, had announced his legal marriage in Malta in September.
On Thursday night, the couple formalized their union under Islamic law. The ceremony included opening prayers, Qur’anic recitation, thanksgiving, the Nikkah rites, and donations to the mosque.
A naming ceremony listed on the programme has sparked speculation online about a possible conversion to Islam. However, there is no confirmation of conversion as at press time.
L.A.X proposed to Ella on January 16, 2026. Their two-part wedding — Malta for the law, Nikkah for faith — reflects a growing trend among Nigerian celebrities who hold a civil wedding abroad and a religious ceremony at home to satisfy both legal and cultural demands.
From Flyboiz rapper to Starboy act to married man, L.A.X’s latest headline is not about music, but about love, faith and identity.
