Davido Alleges Soldiers Blocked Him From Entering Osun

Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has alleged that security operatives attempted to stop him from entering Osun State on the day of the governorship election.

The singer made the claim in an early morning post on his verified X account on Saturday, hours before voting began.

Davido, who is the nephew of incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, has been actively campaigning for his uncle, who is seeking re-election under the Accord Party.

“I’ve been reliably informed that soldiers are trying to prevent me from entering Osun tomorrow, this won’t happen, every citizen of Nigeria has the right to movement at any point of time,” he stated on his official X handle.

His allegation comes on the same day the Nigeria Police Force announced statewide movement restrictions. Movement in Osun was restricted from midnight on Friday until 6pm on Saturday as part of security arrangements for the poll.

Governor Adeleke is contesting against several candidates, including the All Progressives Congress flagbearer, Bola Oyebamiji.

Bashir Ahmad Reacts

Former presidential media aide Bashir Ahmad responded to Davido’s post, dismissing it as dramatic.

“You are just dramatic, @davido,” Ahmad wrote.

He explained that the movement restriction was a standard election security measure and not peculiar to Osun State.
