Davido Banned From Performing In Edo State

Afrobeat star Davido has been banned from performing in Edo State after a public clash with Governor Monday Okpebholo.

Newscarte reported that started during the APC campaign for Bola Oyebamiji in Osun State.

An APC member, Governor Okpebholo criticized Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke performance and said his dancing was distracting him from governance.

Davido, Adeleke’s nephew, fired back on Instagram. He mocked Okpebholo by posting the governor’s WAEC result.

After Adeleke’s victory in Osun, Davido spoke with News Central. He said he would never apologize to Okpebholo and accused him of having no right to attack a sitting governor who is performing better.

“I don’t have the right to attack a sitting governor who is doing better than him,” Davido said.

In an open letter on Instagram, he also challenged the Edo governor to “get prepared for him.”

Following the exchange, authorities in Edo State placed a ban on Davido’s performances in the state.
