Don’t Lose Yourself In Love – Funke Akindele Advises Fans
Nigerian filmmaker, Funke Akindele, has cautioned people against losing their identity or abandoning their dreams in the pursuit of romantic relationships.
The actress gave the advice in a post on X on Thursday, where she reflected on the hard work and sacrifices required to attain success.
Akindele noted that building something from the scratch takes sleepless nights and huge sacrifices before fame and recognition eventually come.

She, however, warned that love, among other distractions, should not make anyone lose focus on what they have laboured for.
“You work so hard, sleepless nights, sacrifices, building something from scratch. Then come the accolades!,” she wrote.
“But you see, distractions will come in different forms, sometimes even in the form of love. Nothing wrong with falling in love o! Just don’t lose yourself.”
She further urged her followers to know their worth, stay focused on their aspirations and prioritize self-love while in relationships.
“Know your worth, stay focused and love yourself first. I’m preaching to myself too!” she added.
Akindele was first married to Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede, but their marriage crashed in 2013, less than a year after their wedding.
In an interview with Chude Jideonwo, the filmmaker disclosed that naivety and societal pressure influenced her decision to go into the marriage.
In 2016, she married music producer and filmmaker, JJC Skillz. The union produced twin boys in December 2018 before ending in 2022 over “irreconcilable differences.”
