“I Don’t Kiss With My Tongue”: Sophia Chisom On Filming Kissing Scenes

Nollywood actress Sophia Chisom, better known as Soso, has said onscreen kisses should be done strictly for professional purposes and not for personal pleasure.
She made this remark following the complaints from some actors who claimed they have never had a good kiss on set.
Speaking in an interview with TVC, Chisom explained that she does not use her tongue during kissing scenes and keeps her teeth closed, relying only on her lips to make the act look believable.

“I don’t know if people kiss with their tongues but I do not kiss with my tongue. My teeths are always closed during kissing scenes so it is just the lips. But because it is an act, we have to make it believable,” she stated.
Speaking further, she noted that, the method has made it difficult for any male colleague to get what they might consider a “good kiss” from her.
The actress further stressed that she is very careful of who she exchanges saliva with, which is one of the reasons why she maintains her method during filming, adding that maintaining personal boundaries does not interfere with delivering a convincing performance.
Chisom hinted that while the scene has to look real to the audience, it remains an act, while emphasizing that actors can make kissing scenes believable without crossing into personal intimacy.
Meanwhile, it was gathered that actor Saga Adeolu and other Nollywood stars have lamented that onscreen kisses are rarely pleasurable, noting that they have yet to experience a good kiss in the industry.
