‘It Almost Destroyed My Life’: Baami Opens Up On Loan He Took For Ex-Girlfriend
Content creator Samuel Adegbeyi, popularly known as Baami, has shared how a loan he took for his former girlfriend nearly ruined him financially and emotionally.
Speaking in an interview with Punch, Baami said he borrowed about N30,000 from an online loan app and added his savings to help his girlfriend start a business.
“I genuinely loved her and wanted to support her,” he said. But according to him, her attitude changed immediately after she got the money.

Baami explained that the loan had a short repayment window, and when he couldn’t pay back on time the interest skyrocketed.
“Eventually, a loan of about N30,000 grew to more than N300,000,” he said.
To manage the debt, he started borrowing from other loan apps, which trapped him in a cycle.
“For almost a year, I struggled financially and emotionally. There was a period of about four months when I could barely function. I stayed indoors most of the time,” he said.
During that period, he said a friend he lived with had to take care of him.
“He was cooking for me. I sometimes ate leftovers the following morning because I could barely take care of myself,” Baami said.
“It was one of the most difficult periods of my life, and I survived only by God’s grace,” he added.
The creator also said the ordeal affected his education.
“I could not return to school as planned because I was struggling to repay the debt,” he explained.
