N1m Salary Not Enough For Dialysis — TG Omori Speaks On Kidney Battle
Top music video director ThankGod Omori, known as TG Omori, has spoken about how expensive it is to treat kidney failure in Nigeria.
Speaking on the Afropolitan podcast on Wednesday, Omori said even someone earning N1m monthly may not be able to afford dialysis.
According to him, dialysis costs between N50,000 and N70,000 per session in some hospitals, while he paid N150,000 to N200,000 per session at a private hospital.

He said patients often need three sessions in a week, which pushes weekly cost to about N500,000 to N600,000.
“I spent a lot on surgery. Dialysis costs N70k a day, but at an exclusive place, I sometimes had 3 sessions a week, costing N500k. A minimum-wage person wouldn’t cope. I waited a year for a transplant, which cost N31m,” he said.
“So, automatically, if your salary is even one million naira a month, it can’t serve you,” he added.
Omori disclosed that his brother donated a kidney after nine months of searching for a donor, but his body initially rejected it.
“My brother gave me his kidney after it took us 9 months to find a donor. The doctor said my body wasn’t accepting it, that it didn’t match,” he said.
He said his brother now lives with one kidney.
The director first revealed his kidney transplant in 2024 after sharing a hospital photo with the caption, “Keep my spirit alive.”
He noted that treating kidney failure for one year while waiting for a transplant can cost up to N31m, excluding drugs, tests and other complications.
“Even though money can’t buy happiness, money can still buy some time,” Omori said.
