Ogun 2027: Hunye Tackles Yayi’s Camp Over ‘Zero Vote’ Claim, Accuses Media Aide of Sub-Judice Meddling

The battle for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket in Ogun State ahead of the 2027 general elections took a dramatic twist on Wednesday, as the Campaign Organisation of Hon. Abayomi Hunye heavily tackled Chief Kayode Odunaro, the Media Adviser to Senator Solomon Adeola (popularly known as Yayi).
In a fiery statement signed by Femi Oyewale, Media Aide to Hon. Abayomi Hunye, the campaign team accused Yayi’s camp of attempting to blackmail the judiciary, prejudice ongoing court proceedings, and manufacture a “fictional court verdict” to misinform the public.
The controversy erupted following a radio appearance by Odunaro, where he claimed that Hunye scored “zero votes” across all 236 wards in the APC governorship primaries and alleged that a court verdict had already confirmed the figure.

Reacting sharply, Hunye’s campaign organisation described the “zero vote” claim as a “desperate hallucination of a sinking political hegemony” and a mathematical impossibility given Hunye’s strong grassroots support across Yewaland and the three senatorial districts.
“To claim that Hon. Abayomi Hunye scored zero votes across all 236 wards of Ogun State is an insult to the intelligence of thousands of APC faithful who stood courageously in the sun to vote for genuine leadership. A ‘zero vote’ allocation is not an election result; it is a manufactured figure written in secret rooms to validate an orchestrated imposition,” the statement read.
The campaign further questioned why Senator Adeola’s media machinery continues to hop from radio station to radio station spending heavily to discredit a candidate they claim had zero followership.
Hunye’s camp raised a alarm over what it termed a deliberate attempt by Senator Adeola’s spokesman to preempt the bench and influence the court’s decision in the pending suit titled Abayomi Semako Hunye v. APC & 2 Ors.
Debunking Odunaro’s claim of an existing court ruling, Oyewale clarified that no judgment had been delivered by the court.
“There is NO COURT VERDICT on this suit. In recent court proceedings attended by Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) representing all parties, no judgment was delivered; the matter was simply adjourned to November 18, 2026.
“Where did Odunaro get his fictional ‘court verdict’? Is Senator Adeola’s camp now running a parallel court system? Or are they actively trying to blackmail the judiciary, prejudice the mind of the honorable judge, and manufacture a verdict in the court of public opinion before November 18?” Oyewale queried.
Dismissing claims of party suspension and threats of criminalization against Hunye as “classical political intimidation,” the campaign reiterated that Hunye remains an unblemished leader of the party.
Warning against sub-judice meddling, Oyewale cautioned Yayi’s media team to desist from media tyranny and grandstanding, emphasizing that issues surrounding primary process legitimacy and statutory declarations under oath are currently pending before a court of competent jurisdiction.
“We demand that Senator Adeola’s camp desist from attempting to intimidate the court, influence ongoing proceedings, or mislead Ogun citizens with fictional judge verdicts.
Hon. Abayomi Hunye remains resolute and confident that the court proceedings on November 18, 2026, will expose all secret-room manipulations,” the statement concluded.
