Reekado Banks Returns With New EP ‘Worthy Challenger’

Nigerian singer Reekado Banks has announced his return to music with a new extended play titled ‘Worthy Challenger’.

The five-track EP dropped early today, marked  a major comeback for the singer, which also blends the Afrobeats sound that launched his career with fresh pop influences.

Distributed by Ziiki Media, the project includes ‘Samankwe,’ ‘She Is Mine,’ ‘Mathematician,’ ‘Mercy,’ and ‘Nobody’.

In a declaration on his official X handle (formally twitter), Banks tied the EP’s title to a 6-year-old exchange with Burna Boy. Back then, Burna Boy dismissed Reekado’s call-out, saying he would only do a “hit battle” with a “worthy challenger”.

Referencing that remark, Reekado wrote: “The next one may be called ‘Clout animal’ lol. #WorthyChallenger OUT NOW.”

Born Ayodeji Solomon, Banks joined Mavin Records in 2014 but exited four years later.

He released his debut album ‘Spotlight’ on September 1, 2016. Nine years later, he dropped his sophomore album ‘The Game Needs You’.

It was also gathered that the prominent singer won Rookie of the Year at The Headies in 2014 and took home Next Rated in 2015.
