Fresh Crisis Rocks Kwara APC as Group Rejects Alleged Imposition, Warns Against Marginalising Two Senatorial Blocs
A fresh political storm is brewing within the Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the Kwara South APC Stakeholders, Youths and Women Support Group has strongly condemned what it described as a “hurried and wicked attempt” to impose candidates on the senatorial district ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued today, the group alleged that the current political arrangement being promoted within the party unfairly concentrates all three National Assembly seats in Kwara South within a single bloc, warning that such a development could destabilise the party and jeopardise its electoral fortunes in the district.
The group argued that Kwara South comprises three major political blocs, Ibolo, Igbomina and Ekiti, spread across seven local government areas, insisting that equity, justice and political balance require that the district’s one Senate seat and two House of Representatives seats be distributed across the three blocs.

According to the group, allowing one bloc to occupy all three National Assembly positions amounts to political exclusion and contradicts the democratic ideals upon which the APC was founded.
”We strongly condemn in totality the hurried and wicked attempt to impose candidates on our people. Kwara South belongs to three blocs and seven local governments, and fairness demands that representation should reflect this diversity,” the statement read.
The group further alleged that the current arrangement would leave the Ibolo and Ekiti blocs without any representation in the National Assembly while concentrating all three seats within the Igbomina bloc.
Describing the situation as dangerous, the stakeholders warned that such perceived imbalance could fuel resentment among party members and weaken the APC’s electoral strength in 2027.
Beyond the bloc arrangement, the group also expressed concern over what it described as the concentration of political power within Irepodun Local Government Area
It noted that under the alleged arrangement, Irepodun would produce both the Senator representing Kwara South and one member of the House of Representatives, leaving the remaining six local government areas without equitable representation.
”This is where it pains us most. Out of the seven local governments in Kwara South, Irepodun alone is being positioned to produce both the Senate and one House of Representatives member. That means two out of the three National Assembly seats are concentrated in one local government. This is unacceptable and amounts to political marginalisation,” the group stated.
It questioned why other local governments including Isin, Ekiti, Oke-Ero, Offa, Oyun and Ifelodun should be excluded from what is described as equitable political representation.
The stakeholders maintained that such an arrangement would undermine party cohesion and create avoidable divisions ahead of the next general election.
The group also reiterated its support for Dr. Muheebah Adenike Dankaka, OON, insisting that she emerged victorious in the APC Kwara South Senatorial Primary.
According to the statement, Dankaka’s emergence reflected the collective decision of party members across the three political blocs and should be respected.
The group further described her as the only female senatorial aspirant from Northern Nigeria’s 59 Senate seats, arguing that denying her the party’s ticket would send a negative signal regarding women’s participation in politics.
”Dr. Muheebah Adenike Dankaka won the APC Kwara South Senatorial Primary clearly and overwhelmingly. She remains the choice of party members across Ibolo, Igbomina and Ekiti blocs. To deny her this mandate now is to undermine democracy and discourage women from participating in politics,” the group said.
Appealing directly to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the stakeholders urged him to intervene to prevent what they described as internal sabotage capable of weakening the APC in Kwara South.
The group alleged that those behind the alleged imposition were working against the party’s unity and the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
”Mr President, we respectfully appeal to you to intervene personally in this matter. Do not allow internal forces within the party to destroy APC in Kwara South. We believe fairness and justice remain the foundation of democracy,” the statement added.
The stakeholders warned that denying Dankaka the senatorial ticket could have far-reaching political consequences.
According to the group, such a decision could discourage women from aspiring for elective offices, alienate voters from the Ibolo and Ekiti blocs, and ultimately weaken the APC’s electoral chances in the district during the 2027 elections.
Reaffirming their commitment to the party, the group demanded the cancellation of what it described as the “hurried imposition” and called for fairness in the distribution of political offices across Kwara South.
”We demand equity, justice and fairness across the three blocs and seven local governments of Kwara South. We also demand that Dr. Muheebah Adenike Dankaka be recognised and declared the rightful APC candidate for Kwara South Senatorial District,” the statement concluded.
