Toyin Abraham Opens Up Early Financial Struggles In Her Career
Nigerian filmmaker and actress Toyin Abraham has revealed the financial challenges she faced in the early years of her career.
In a recent video shared on the social media, the 43-year-old producer said that despite spending about 25 years in Nollywood, she only began earning “real money” roughly eight years ago.
“I just started making money. I have been in the industry for about 25 years, since 2001. I started making money, I don’t think it is up to eight years. Then, I was making it, but it was peanuts, just what to eat,” Abraham said.

Abraham has since risen to become one of Nollywood’s most successful filmmakers. In January, her 2025 film Oversabi Aunty grossed over N1 billion at the box office.
The movie became the first directorial debut in Nollywood to cross the N1 billion mark and ranks as the fourth highest-grossing Nollywood film of all time.
