Upcoming Artistes don’t get their Royalties

Upwardly mobile singer, Cybog Da Freak has lamented that upcoming artistes in Nigeria don’t usually get the royalties off their creative work.

He said being an upcoming artiste in Nigeria consumes a lot of resources, yet, they don’t get the deserved accolades or any form of compensation.

Cybog Da Freak believes that “the whole structure needs to change and the right channel needs to be built so that the rewards for being creative can come in.”

Cybog Da Freak, who considers Burna Boy as one of the artistes he’s looking up to, alongside Kendrick Lemar and Drake, said the ‘kilometer’ crooner has proved to be Nigeria’s greatest, at least for now.

“Winning the Grammys in the best album category isn’t a child’s play, but I’m looking forward to breaking his record by winning as many Grammys as possible, and that journey starts with the release of my new music video, ‘Myself Official’,” Cybog Da Freak said.

He added that “yes, Davido, Wizkid and other artistes are doing really well and have proven to be great exports, but clinching the Grammys has placed Burna Boy on a higher pedestal.”

Cybog, who is currently a Computer Engineering student at the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, said his new video, ‘Myself Official’ is directed by Kenny Basil.

His previously released songs include ‘Brain,’ ‘Do you feel me,’ ‘young dumb’ and ‘broke cover’.
