8 Things You Don’t Know About Comedian Gbenga Adeyinka

He is known as a veteran standup comedian, events compere, Publisher and TV personality, who has worked with every important personality in Nigeria, even beyond. 

Gbenga Adeyinka is one of the few comedians who have been consistently relevant for more than two decades. His brand and style of comedy is quite professional and spontaneous, and is attractive to both the old and young. 

The Grand Comedian of the Federal Republic (GCFR) as Adeyinka is fondly called, can easily be described as a bridge between the old and young generations of humour merchants. 

By experience, he no doubt belongs to the older generation, but his sheer humility, ability to discover, nurture and help younger comedians grow has endeared him to the hearts of the new generation as well.

1. He’s an amazing cook. One of comedian Gbenga Adeyinka’s hubbies is cooking. Most times when he is at home, he will tell his beautiful wife to step aside and take charge of the kitchen. His cooking? Top notch. 

You won’t be wrong if you call him Chef Gbenga Adeyinka. 

2. All his kids are University graduates. 

3. Gbenga Adeyinka would have been known as a popular footballer, rubbing shoulders with the likes of Austin Okocha, Kanu Nwankwo et al. All through his school days, he played soccer with a passion. 

At the university level, he represented his hall, faculty and won gold medal at the All Corpers’ Games with Benue State. 

4. Gbenga Adeyinka was a Student Union activist during his undergraduate days at the University of Lagos, Akoka. Elements of the activism are still in him with his penchant for defending the defenseless. 

5. He is equally a talented actor, and has acted in Checkmates and Edge of Párádísè soap operas. He played the role of a cultist in the former, and a lawyer in the latter. 

6. Gbenga Adeyinka has traveled to all states of the Federation. No state in Nigeria he hasn’t been to. 

7. He is a professional printer. He had his own printing outfit. 

8. The multiple award-winning and successful comedian, started his entertainment career as a Children Party Entertainer, dressing as a Clown.
