Getafe manager José Bordalás has admitted that the imminent departure of Super Eagles midfielder, Christantus Uche, to Wolverhampton Wanderers will be a “very serious problem” for the Spanish side.
Uche, 23, is in the final stages of sealing a €20 million move to the Premier League club, where he is expected to sign a five-year contract.
The Nigerian midfielder played a key role in Getafe’s 2-1 LaLiga victory over Sevilla at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium on Monday night. Speaking after the match, Bordalás made clear his reluctance to lose such an influential player.
“Let’s hope he doesn’t leave. I’m against him leaving; he’s a very important player, and this becomes more difficult every day,” Bordalás said.
“If Uche leaves, we have a very serious problem. We can’t be at the mercy of selling a player as important as Uche.
”Club president Ángel Torres had earlier confirmed that the move is being driven by financial regulations, leaving Bordalás with little power to block the transfer.-
