Actress Selma Blair Arrested After Alleged Flight Altercation

American actress Selma Blair has been arrested following an alleged altercation on a flight from Los Angeles to New York City that left at least two cabin crew members injured, authorities said on Monday.

The ‘Legally Blonde’ and ‘Cruel Intentions’ star was detained at John F. Kennedy Airport after her Delta Air Lines flight landed late Sunday over reports of a disruptive passenger.

The Hollywood Reporter reported that the actress allegedly punched one flight attendant and bit another after attempting to open the aircraft door mid-flight.

The 54-year-old was also alleged to have assaulted a police officer and a nurse while being transported to the hospital.

A representative for Blair said she experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct, adding that she received immediate medical attention upon landing and is now in stable condition.

The FBI has issued a summons accusing Blair of assaults onboard the aircraft, according to a federal judicial source.

A spokesperson for Delta Air Lines said the airline has zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behaviour, stressing that the safety of customers and crew remains its top priority.

No date has been fixed yet for the federal case, which relates specifically to the alleged assaults onboard the flight.

In 2016, Blair was removed from a flight on a stretcher after a similar incident, which she later attributed to mixing alcohol with medication.

She also revealed in her 2022 memoir that she had bitten several celebrities, including Kate Moss, often in incidents involving alcohol.

Since being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2018, Blair has been open about her experience with the condition and her advocacy work, including starring in the 2021 documentary ‘Introducing, Selma Blair.’
