Canada Hosts Lagos Reception Ahead Of Headies 18 In Toronto

Canadian High Commission in Nigeria welcomed guests to a special reception in Lagos to mark the 18th edition of The Headies.

The gathering brought together key players from the creative industry, members of the diplomatic corps, and a host of celebrities for an evening of networking ahead of the awards.

This year’s Headies ceremony is scheduled to hold in Toronto, Canada, on October 25, 2026.

Among the dignitaries present were Ayo Animashaun, founder of The Headies; Hannatu Musawa, Minister of Art, Culture and the Creative Economy; and Carlos Rojas Arbulu, Deputy High Commissioner of Canada to Nigeria.

Other prominent attendees included filmmaker Kunle Afolayan, singers Korede Bello and Ruggedman, entertainment executive Ubi Franklin, singer and executive Dare Art Alade with his wife Deola, media personality Morayo Afolabi-Brown, and gospel artist Gaise Baba.

The night featured lively performances. Teni thrilled guests with an energetic set, while veteran singer Faze took the audience down memory lane with classic hits including ‘Kolomental’.
