Charly Boy Opens Up About Past Involvement in Crime in the U.S.
Nigerian activist and entertainer Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has disclosed that he was involved in criminal activities during his youth in the United States.
He disclosed this on Friday while appearing as a guest on Arise Television’s Prime Time.
The outspoken social commentator admitted he made several bad choices in his younger years and took part in acts he now deeply regrets.

“I’ve made mistakes in my life. I’ve been a thief. I’ve done very risky things. I’ve done very stupid things, very foolish things. In fact, I have no business being here with you tonight, but I guess there’s a purpose for my life,” he said.
According to the activist, his time in America was marked by reckless decisions, including involvement in white-collar crimes.
“I was doing white-collar crime when I was in America. I was about 25 years old. I was doing a lot of stupid stuff. That’s why I say I’ve been there,” he added.
The social commentator noted that he has chosen not to conceal those parts of his life story, stating that he documented them in detail in his memoir to reflect his full journey from rebellion and mistakes to transformation and self-discovery.
