Davido Bounces Back From Every Controversy, Manager Says
Davido’s manager, Asa Asika, has opened up on the singer’s unusual ability to survive controversies that could ruin other artistes.
According to him, there have been moments he thought Davido’s career was over after certain incidents, only for the singer to come out even more loved by fans.
Asika stated that he has witnessed situations where he was convinced Davido would struggle to recover, but by the next morning, it was as if nothing happened.
“There are some things I’ve seen David do, I’m like, someone else did this. They will never ever get back from this. Sometimes I’m like, yeah, it’s over.
“I don’t know how we’re going to bounce back from this. Everybody wakes up tomorrow morning and they’re like, yeah, nothing happened. He’s loved,” Asika said.
He also spoke about Davido’s strong commercial pull, describing the Afrobeats star as a walking billboard.
Asika revealed that brands constantly reach out to his team, with many willing to pay just to have Davido hold their products for a few minutes or feature them in his music videos.
“Yeah. So I said, David’s a walking billboard. I have emails from brands being like, I just want David to like, hold this bottle for like 20 minutes or put in his video.
“Like I haven’t paid for music videos with our own money,” he added.
He therefore noted that Davido’s popularity has continued to attract major brand endorsements and commercial opportunities in the entertainment industry.
