Davido Hints At Music Break At 40
Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has hinted at the possibility of stepping away from music.
Speaking on ‘The Uncut Podcast’ recently, the 33-year-old said he does not plan to still be competing with younger artistes when he turns 40.
He clarified that he was not asking older musicians to quit the industry, explaining that his catalogue is strong enough to keep him relevant even after a long hiatus.

“Music is my blood but I won’t be 40 years and still dragging with guys in their 20s. Jay-z took a break and he is doing his thing,” he said.
“I can take a 10yrs break and still do a 50-arena tour. I have the catalogue. I might decide not to make another song for the rest of my life, and nobody is touching my catalogue,” the singer stated.
He therefore added that music should also open doors to other ventures beyond performing and recording.
