Davido Plans To Buy Back Music Masters

Popular Afrobeats star David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has revealed plans to buy back his music masters from Sony Music before retiring.

Speaking on The Long Form podcast, he called ownership the “most crucial element” of any record deal.

He further described his current contract as favourable but stressed that regaining control of his catalogue remains a key goal.

“With that, I can give each of my kids songs even after I retire,” he said.
Davido therefore added that artists need to pay attention to the business side of music, noting that owning masters secures long-term value and legacy.
