A Twitter influencer, Nnamdi Chude, has made a public apology to Nigerian oil magnate, Emeka Offor, for defaming his character.
He made the apology in a video shared on social media after his release from police detention on Friday.
Chude was arrested for alleged defamation of character following a petition by Offor over a tweet he made on Monday, March 13, alleging that the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, had contacted Offor to plead with Peter Obi to accept what he tagged “a rigged result”.
Chude had tweeted, “So #officialABAT called Emeka Offor to beg Peter Obi to accept the rigged result. If he is sure the people voted for APC and he won the election, why is he running around pleading with everyone to help beg Peter Obi to accept the result?”
Speaking in the video, he said, ‘’I want to apologise to Sir Emeka Offor over the tweet I made. As at the time I made the tweet, it was unverified and it wasn’t to malign his name in any way. I am just a concerned Nigerian for democracy. I thought I should lend my voice for good governance, and I hold him in high esteem as a respected Igbo leader.”
