Grammy-Winning Jazz Legend Cassandra Wilson Dies At 70

American jazz icon Cassandra Wilson has passed away.
The Grammy Award-winning singer died peacefully on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at her home in Jackson, Mississippi. She was 70.
Her manager, Robert Torre, confirmed the news in a statement, saying she “transitioned peacefully at home, surrounded by family, close friends, and her manager.”

Torre asked for privacy and did not reveal the cause of her death.
Meanwhile it was gathered that Wilson won the Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Performance in 1997, and later took home Best Jazz Vocal Album in 2009.
