Nollywood Actor Olaide Olabanji Slams Colleagues For Backing “Bad Leaders”

Nollywood actor Olaide Olabanji has called out some of his colleagues for endorsing politicians he said have done little to move Nigeria forward.

This was disclosed in an Instagram video yesterday, raising concerns about the welfare of Nigerians, especially ailing entertainers and the poor state of the country’s health sector.

Olaide, who didn’t mention names, condemned actors who refuse to use their influence to speak against bad governance, warning that their own children would also face the consequences if they don’t join other Nigerians to hold government accountable.

He also took aim at unnamed actors who allegedly helped politicians share rice and beans during election campaigns, while also questioned what they gained from the money they collected during the 2023 general elections.

“Don’t destroy people’s lives because of what you’re benefiting from bad leaders,” he said. “Those who supported bad leaders in the past are responsible for the hardship Nigerians are going through today.”

“We contributed to where Nigeria is today. Yet we keep supporting evil. Many Nollywood stars are on sick beds today because of our nonchalant attitude. Many of us have the chance to speak truth to power, but we won’t because of ‘stomach infrastructure.’”

“If many of us had been telling our government the truth, maybe they would have built good hospitals by now. With good governance, Nigeria should have hospitals that can treat different illnesses without people flying abroad for treatment.”
