The indefatigable Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Dr) Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, has attended the Conference of Presiding Officers of Nigerian Legislatures (COPON) with the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.
The conference seeks to harness opinions, thoughts and solutions to the issues militating against Nigeria’s continued unity, growth and development.
Speaker Obasa had constantly maintained that in a democracy, power belongs to the people. As a result, he has, over time, busied himself producing pro-people legislations that have now made Lagos the ‘cynosure of eyes’.
With the country now battling myriad of challenges, Obasa and the Lagos Assembly are known to have constantly added their collective voice to growing concerns as well as proffered solutions.
He recently declared: “Those representing the people through the ideology of social contract must listen to the people.”
His experience in legislative activities can hardly be quantified.
Little wonder he is considered a major stakeholder in the scheme of the progress of Nigeria.
