Just few months after its establishment, Ona Ara is a Massive Movement is fast becoming one of the major promoters of entertainment and tourism, uniquely using culture as the platform.
The group, which has Balogun Olamilekan as the convener is gradually taking its place as one of the leading entertaining groups in the country. The group started its activities on Facebook few months ago as Amala hangout in Lagos.
Olamilekan said he started the group as a means of waging war against depression, to encourage people to take break from the drudgery of daily lives and to promote African delicacies. The first Amala hangout took place in Ikeja, Lagos four months ago.
On the first week of November, the group organised a tour to Abeokuta, Ogun State.
During the tour to Ogun, the group participated in a gala night hosted by ace musician, Jide Chord. They also carried out Shopping at Adire Mall, climbed the historical Olumo rock and also visited the Obasanjo library.
“Ofada Rice is Egba People’s Special Delicacy, having to come to Abeokuta, the Headquarters of Egba People home and abroad without having to eat this Signature Delicacy is a misnomer”, Olamilekan stressed when jokingly addressing members.
“Personally, the Ofada Festival was my best party – we ate, drank, danced and networked” he concluded.
The first trip to Ogun state was titled “WOW Exclusive Tour Of Abeokuta”
With the trip, Ona Ara attracted the attention of the management of Nigeria Railway Corporation. The Corporation subsequently propsed to use the exploits of the group as a riveting part of its soon to be released documentary in celebration of the success story of the rail project.
