Ruth Kadiri Warns Big Weddings Can Put Pressure on Marriages
Nollywood actress Ruth Kadiri has advised couples to avoid elaborate weddings, saying the pressure and expectations surrounding such ceremonies can affect their marriages.
She made the statement in a video circulating online and shared by Pulse on Sunday, where she questioned why some couples who had enjoyed happy relationships for years begin to experience fear and uncertainty after their weddings.
She urged couples to consider simpler ceremonies, focusing on their relationships rather than societal expectations.
She suggested completing the necessary traditional and legal processes and celebrating with close family and friends.

The actress also warned that elaborate weddings could expose couples to unnecessary scrutiny and pressure from others.
Beyond weddings, Kadiri called on parents and society to reduce the financial and emotional expectations placed on young people, particularly firstborn children who are often expected to support their families.
She therefore opined that success means different things to different people and should not be measured only by wealth or career achievements. She encouraged Nigerians to prioritise their peace of mind and happiness over societal approval.
