Shawn Faqua’s Wife Says His Faith Made Her Doubt Him
Nollywood actor Shawn Faqua’s wife, Dr. Sharon Ifunanya Maduekwe, popularly called Akwa Ugoo, said her husband’s strong Christian values almost cost her the relationship.
Speaking in a recent interview, Sharon revealed that Shawn was firm about waiting until marriage before sex. He also refused to let her visit his house alone, insisting he had to seek “the Holy Spirit’s direction” first.
According to her, the rules made her suspicious. She thought he was hiding another woman.
The doubt grew when her hotel was fully booked during a late arrival in Lagos. She asked to spend the night at his place, but he said he needed to pray about it first.
“When I first started dating him, he was like we can’t have sex till marriage. He also said I couldn’t come to his house because we’d be alone. One day, when my hotel was fully booked, I asked if I could stay over. He said he needed to ask the Holy Spirit first. I told my friends, ‘This guy is not honest. I know he’s hiding something.’”
Sharon said Shawn later agreed after praying. But instead of sharing the room, he slept in the sitting room while she took the bedroom.
She admitted she still struggled to trust his sincerity, noting that her experience in a past relationship made her question his intentions.
Meanwhile, the couple are now married.
