Sotayo Gaga Hosts Four-Day Private Watch Party for New Film ‘Osun Dagbonu’
Actress and filmmaker Tayo Sobola, better known as Sotayo Gaga, recently treated fans to a special cinema experience by organizing a four-day private watch party for her new film, Osun Dagbonu.
The exclusive screening, which was he held between Thursday, June 18, 2026 and Sunday, June 21, 2026, gathered fans, film enthusiasts, influencers, filmmakers, and industry executives at a private cinema inside Vintano Hotel, Lekki, Lagos.
Attendees had the chance to view the film with the actress and engage with her directly during the event.
Sotayo explained that the watch party was designed to promote a closer connection with her audience and capture unfiltered responses to the film. Osun Dagbonu delves into themes of spirituality, destiny, and religious belief.

“Truthfully, I just wanted the film to reach the right audience. If it had been released in cinemas, access would have been restricted and viewership limited. That’s why I chose to put it out on YouTube,” she said.
“I’m certain that seeing this movie before and then experiencing it here at the private watch party gives you two completely different feelings. There’s a big difference between watching it alone in your room on your phone or TV, and watching it here with a crowd on a large screen,” she added.
“I really wanted to get people’s views, receive honest feedback from fans, and watch their reactions live. The best way to achieve that was to gather everyone for this shared experience,” she said.
Veteran actress Toyin Afolayan, better known as Lola Idije, who featured prominently in the film, praised Sotayo for crafting a story that spotlights African spirituality and cultural heritage.
She noted that filmmakers should focus more on narratives that showcase traditional African values.
“This is exactly the kind of film we should be producing right now. Religion has deeply impacted us as Africans, and it’s time we return to African spirituality. It isn’t evil; the narrative has just been distorted, which is why people avoid it,” Lola Idije said.
“Thankfully, our people are slowly becoming more aware and gaining better understanding. It’s a brilliant movie, and I’m proud to have been part of it,” she added.
Meanwhile, several notable figures attended the four-day watch party to support Sotayo and the project, including Lola Idije, actor Lateef Adedimeji, Pastor Kasala, and actress Seyi Edun, among others.
